Ways to Save at Target
Target is loved by many and constantly ranks high at the National Retailer Federation’s list of favorite stores. There is a Target or a few close to you with its 1,805+ locations nationwide and over $75 billion yearly sales.
Target is not the most expensive retailer around, but even there you can be smart and save extra money with some tips below:
Before you go shopping, check weekly ads to find out what is on sale at the store and don’t miss the best deals. New promotions begin on Sundays.
Just like in every other retail store, the best markdowns are after major holidays. Other times check out isle endcaps for some ongoing promotions. Some people swear that there is weekly markdown schedule, even if completely unofficial:
Monday – accessories, electronics, kids’ clothing, books, baby gear.
Tuesday – woman’s clothing, domestics, pets and groceries.
Wednesday – men’s, health and beauty, garden.
Thursday – lingerie, shoes, housewares, toys, sports, luggage, décor.
Friday – cosmetics, auto, jewelry, home improvement.
Right after the holiday clearance: 50% off the first day, 75% three days after, and 90% off a week after before it’s gone off the shelves.
Clearance section has a few tears: if the price ends at 0.08 or 0.06, the item will be discounted further, but if you see 0.04, grab it while you can.
If you like to save, you know about coupons. You can find coupons on target.com and print. You can also discover coupons on their app. Third party websites can have Target coupons. Finally, you can sometimes get coupons with your receipts.
- Stack coupons
Target is fine with you stacking coupons, which means that you can bring manufacturer and Target coupons and use them together.
- Price matching
Look at the stuff you are buying in the store on Target.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, Sears.com, and others. If you find a better price there, Target will match it right away and up to 7 days after the purchase with receipt and proof of the lower price.
- Target app
Use their app and Target Cartwheel app for maximum savings. Coupons can be stacked on top of app discounts. Imagine using manufacturer coupon, Target coupon, savings from the Cartwheel, and 5% off when paying with the REDCard!
This debit or credit card will give you 5% off each time you use it. Don’t hesitate to get it if you frequent Target.
If you create your baby or wedding registry at Target, you will be able to get the remaining gifts at 15% off after the event takes place.
- Dollar section
This store front section is great to get cheap things that you need, but be careful – you can get stuff that you don’t really need for $3 a pop lately.
- Buy and get gift cards
Some purchases include free gift cards, so look for those. You can use those gift cards right away if you will divide your purchase into two parts. The cards are announced on the weekly ads.
- Store brands
Target store brands are great quality and often better price than brand names, but not always.
- Bring your own bags
Each reusable bag will give you $0.05, so bring many.
